"CANALI: FLUTE VIRTUOSO
She plays the flute with so much passion, perfectly balancing the notes. She makes the flute pop all eclectic sounds that make her arguably one of the best flutists in the world... Canali and Bagorro worked musical magic as they went through the repertoire of traditional and modern sets. Their performances were characterised by a dream like quality that froze and mesmerised the audience as well as an upbeat tempo that had a danceable fell to it. Suffice to state that the beauty of the acts lay in their ability to transpose listeners into a new dimension. Overall, Canali and Baorro combined their musical talents to produce a well polished and scintillanting performance. The two musicians received a standing ovation at the conclusion of their performance. Then Canali took to the stage to perform a piece titled "Slapstick Blues" in which she passionately exhibited her virtuosity. "I am very communicative in the way I play the flute: I try to tell a story. I always try to give feelings to my pieces" said Canali."NEWS DAY

"I would like to thank all at the Italian Institute of Culture for both presenting the "Viva Verdi" Concert in the Musaion and for allowing our flute students to experience Ms Canali's teaching via her Masterclasses. Both the concert and the series of lessons she gave to my flute students were a great success, and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The flute students gained considerably from Ms Canali's insight and experience! We found her kind, patient and, above all, insightful. The Department of Music looks forward to further such cultural occasions in the future!" Prof. John deC Hinch, Department of Music of University of Pretoria
"It was a great pleasure to enjoy your gracious presence in South Africa and to appreciate your tremendous experience and expertise as a flute virtuoso and lecturer. Thank you so much for taking time to travel to the rural township "Stinkwater" and to work with the flute students of Mr. Sinky Sewela. You treated them with such sympathy as you imparted basic principles of flute playing technique, embouchure, breathing, posture, etc. The same can be said with your interaction with the students of the Keiskamma Music Project in the Eastern Cape. The flute teachers and their more advanced students you gave master classes gained tremendously from your insights and practical advice. During your recent visit to Southern Africa you have left your indelible musical tracks. We look forward to another visit soon!" Mr. John Roos, Director of UNISA Music Foundation - University of South Africa
"Your visit to our Music Centre was an absolute highlight! The way you handled every student was so inspirational and encouraging. After these valuable lessons, the students were inspired and started to play their instruments with renewed energy. Throughout the fantastic concert that you played the evening of the 20th of April, one could sense your love for the flute as well as your passion for music. We are looking forward to your next visit!" Mr. Leon Hartshorne, Director of Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre - Parow - Cape Town

"Gentile Maestro,

PEOPLE
"Dear Francesca,
Two days have passed since your concert in Robertson, I went to the hall to collect the flowers which were next to you on the stage and I am certain that I could still hear the wonderful golden sound of your playing reverberating in that now empty space!
Well maybe it was in my imagination, what I can be certain of is that your playing will remain a long time in my memory. Thank you!
I'm interested to know how you acquired that beautiful sound, although it might well have come from the same source as the young Mozart's music, I suspect it came from your own hard work rather than being sent from heaven! Well done, it is a real pleasure to hear a player who's technique allows them to play the music. I know it doesn't happen without a lot of attention to detail and a motivation to play like an angel.
You have achieved something and given us much pleasure! Thanks once again for playing for our little group of friends, you will always be welcome here. My best greatings!" Phil (Robertson)
"Hi Francesca, Thank you for a wonderful concert Wednesday 30 March in Pretoria South Africa! I really enjoyed your playing!" Annelie, University of Pretoria

"Hello Francesca, I was one of prof Hinch's students who attended the master class that you gave on Tuesday, and I just have to say this again: The concert of Wednesday evening was amazing! I was so glad to hear from someone who also takes up singing that you incorporate the ideas and principals to be able to produce such clear tonality on the flute.
Hope that you enjoy your stay in South Africa! Have a wonderful weekend." Amoré (Student University of Pretoria)
